You just might have heard rumors that this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV will be played in Dallas, well, not the actual city of Dallas, but Arlington, which is between Dallas and Ft. Worth.
The rumors are correct.

Dallas Morning News columnist Jacquielynn Floyd wrote a hilarious piece last week, expressing her dismay over various “authentic Texas” foods suggested for Super Bowl parties. The appalling misinformation comes from food bloggers, columnists and other “experts” who have obviously never set foot in the state. I suspect these experts just got in a hurry, dredged up a few half-remembered stereotypes about Texas, and dashed off some advice, figuring none of their fellow Yankees (or Easterners, or whatever) would know the difference.

(Disclaimer: I have to admit that I still use beans in chili too, but you can blame my Midwestern roots for that. At least I don’t claim it’s “authentic Texan” chili.)
