About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

The cherries are back, and so is this post from 2011. Oddly, nearly six years later, the post still gets hits. Probably from people who think I’m serious… poor, misguided creatures…     The following post originally appeared … Continue reading

Considering Bluebonnets

Sometimes I wonder whether my writing benefits anyone. My audience is loyal and fun, but small. Should I be doing something different, something to be seen by lots more people? Well, while out bicycling several weeks back, I learned a … Continue reading

Breathtaking Customer Service

Last week I published a post about the goofy setbacks to my efforts at celebrating Brent’s birthday. In passing, I mentioned that the first peach from my Harry & David’s order tasted a little flat. (Unlike all the wonderful pears … Continue reading

To Be Free

I can’t help it… Words mean things, and I like to know just what each one means, and to use the right one to say what I intend to say. Take the familiar quote, “The truth will set you free, … Continue reading
