About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

Yours truly, the Queen of Sidetracked-ness, has reached unprecedented heights of distraction. We’re having a new house built, and I’m pretty dang excited about it. Not that we’re moving very far—only about four miles, in fact—but we needed a different configuration … Continue reading →

Meanwhile, in my “Other” World…

Posted on June 18, 2016 by Jan C. Johnson

The day before Father’s Day, Mrs. Tweedy and I drove to Italy, Texas to participate in the “Tour d’Italia” bike ride as usual. The organizers offer five different routes: You can choose 12, 30, 42, 50, or 63 miles. I’d … Continue reading →

A Long Moment of Silence

Posted on June 13, 2016 by Jan C. Johnson

My mother died in January and I haven’t said a word about it online until now, more than five months later. Why the long silence? First, I didn’t want to post anything until the relatives were notified. After that was … Continue reading →

Did Somebody Say “Update?”

Posted on January 22, 2016 by Jan C. Johnson

True confession: Around September 20, I finished the first draft of Book 1 in my humor series. Actually typed “THE END” and everything. In so doing, I beat my stated goal by more than two months. Did I report to … Continue reading →
