About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

Clean or Mean: Eating Your Words

I don’t mind telling you that I’m in my fifties. Or that I grew up in a Midwestern family which, like Erma Bombeck’s, “viewed gravy as a beverage” (one of my favorite Erma quotes). Even though I’ve been bicycling since … Continue reading

Those “Three Little Words” I Long to Hear

Brent has been my Valentine for over 35 years, my husband for the vast majority of those years. But I still love to hear him say those three little words. What’s that– “I Love You?” Oh. Those three little words. … Continue reading

Forgotten Soldiers? (Not if I can help it)

When my son Eric was commissioned into the Army, he vowed to defend our nation. He would follow orders to the best of his ability, wherever they might take him. We wiped stray tears and “pinned” his rank onto his … Continue reading
