About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

Moving Bluebonnets

Posted on October 18, 2010 by Jan C. Johnson

One of the most distinctive symbols of Texas, besides the Lone Star flag, is Lupinus texensis, the bluebonnet. Our state flower thrives in poor, rocky soil and tolerates drought pretty well, which probably explains why it is the state flower … Continue reading →

When I am out bicycling, I always pay attention to the animals I see, for two reasons. First, I have always loved animals. I enjoy watching and admiring them all, from “Scooter,” the driveway lizard (yes, I name random critters; … Continue reading →

Posted on October 13, 2010 by Jan C. Johnson

Last week I mentioned how adorable our dogs can be, whenever they are not doing something that is disgusting beyond belief. Sort of like very young children. And so one night, when the back yard erupted into frantic barking in … Continue reading →
