Note to Dayle’s Simple Pleasures friends: I am a freelance writer for a group of local-interest magazines. I thought this post from the other day would give you a picture of the simple pleasure I get from my work.
It would be “just another assignment,” I thought, in another historic neighborhood that I would depend upon my GPS to navigate. As I parked my car and crossed the street toward the pre-World-War-II brick house, I noted how charming the home looked.
I didn’t know the half of it, though. Bob and Becky Lynn, the homeowners, welcomed me with such warmth and hospitality that I felt as if I was dropping in on old family friends. They shared favorite memories, I took a couple of pages of notes, and we laughed about some of life’s little mishaps that they had experienced. These are two people who, regardless of age, will always be refreshingly young at heart.
