About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

What I Did on my Summer Vacation, Part 2: Currents

Row, row, row, row… shore check. Oh, no–we’re still straight out in front of our hotel. Honestly, Brent and I have paddled for something like five minutes without moving at all, well, just a little closer to shore. We’re trying … Continue reading

What I Did on my Summer Vacation, Part 1: The Flounder

It must have been the second day of snorkeling, since I was having no problems. In any aquatic vacation, my first day of snorkeling always involves a requisite amount of loose mask trouble, failure to engage mouthpiece properly, turning my … Continue reading

“You Can’t Tame The Goat”

It was too hot to be outside at all, let alone pedaling a bike up hills and over little backroads that meandered past dairies and other aromatic sites. But that’s exactly what our son Greg and I were doing a … Continue reading
