About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I've also written a most riveting memoir--not mine, which would be boring, but rather the life story of an obscure pastor in Liberia, West Africa. His hair-raising memories of the Liberian Civil War years make for some suspenseful reading! Discover more under the "My Books" tab. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

Back in the Saddle

Confession time… I’ve been something of a slacker for the last four months. At least, I gave myself a “leave of absence” from my magazine work, starting the last week or so of my sister’s life. After notifying my coordinator … Continue reading

Gone in a Flash

What determines the end of youth? Is it having kids? No, lots of parents still look and feel quite young. Maybe it’s when those same kids start saying you are old? Pffft, mine would do that if I were still … Continue reading

Ignominious Retreat — It Sounds Better All the Time

Sometimes you get out there on the bike and you just have no legs. Such was the case two Saturdays ago, when I rode in the Tour d’Italia bike rally in Italy, Texas. I had not had enough sleep, what … Continue reading
